Obsessions Icons
A set of 16 editorial icons I designed for The San Francisco Standard's "Obsessions" section, each representing a recurring topic the paper covers in depth — from AI Is Eating SF to The Valkyries Phenomenon to Crisis in the Streets.
Every icon pairs a single-color, high-contrast silhouette with a coarse halftone/noise texture applied to a secondary shape, all built on a consistent yellow-and-black palette so the set reads as one system across the site's grid. The constraint was to solve each concept in a single icon that reads instantly at thumbnail size, then holds up as a full-bleed section header.
